Filling the Gaps
A hazard recognition and survival training course for newly qualified and experienced drivers.
Held at: Various places across the county
Cost: £15 (Including VAT) per driver
Duration: 2 hours 30 mins
(12 -18 STUDENTS PER SESSION)

What does the course involve?
A lot of fun! - The courses take place in the evenings between 7.30pm and 10pm, generally at Vauxhall dealership showrooms around the county and cater for between 12 and 18 students.
When you arrive at the venue, after a brief introduction, you will be placed into small groups with your friends and each group will work through an interactive hazard awareness computer programme designed to hone your hazard recognition skills. Because you are working in a small group you won't feel intimidated by the others. Each group works at their own speed and the results are shown to you at the end of the computer session.

Once the computer session is at an end (it takes 40 minutes or so) you then take part in three separate activities running in parallel.
  • Activity 1 Car Care, Safety & Maintenance
  • Activity 2 "Expect the Unexpected" Video
  • Activity 3 Accident Scene & Roadside First Aid
Each of the activities runs for 20-25 minutes. As your group completes each one, you move on to the next until they are all completed. After all of this you qualify for a well earned cup of tea or coffee. While the refreshments are being served you will have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have. There will also be a chance for you to seek further training or advice on any aspect of driving if you so wish.
